The Side Mount Pool Sand Filter from GS Pool delivers reliable mechanical filtration with space-saving design ideal for installations with limited overhead clearance. The side-mounted multiport valve allows placement in low-clearance equipment areas where top mount filters cannot fit. Specially graded sand media traps particles down to 20 to 40 microns for crystal clear water.
The Side Mount Pool Sand Filter solves a common problem in pool equipment installation: limited overhead space. Many equipment rooms, basements, and enclosures have height restrictions that prevent installation of standard top mount filters. The side valve configuration eliminates this constraint by moving the valve from the top to the side, allowing the filter to fit in spaces where height is limited. This design innovation makes side mount filters the best choice for challenging installation locations without compromising filtration performance.
The side mount configuration maintains all these functions while offering easier valve access in confined spaces. Tank materials are selected for durability in harsh pool environments, with reinforced construction resisting the pressure of repeated backwash cycles. GS Pool offers the top rated selection of side mount filters with complete sizing guidance. For pool owners with challenging equipment locations, our Side Mount Pool Sand Filters provide the perfect combination of space efficiency, filtration performance, and long-term reliability.

A Side Mount Pool Sand Filter is a filtration system where the multiport control valve mounts on the side of the filter tank. This configuration allows easy access to the valve while keeping the tank top clear for installation in spaces with limited overhead clearance. It uses specially graded sand to trap and remove particles from pool water.
Side mount filters work by channeling pool water through a bed of specially graded sand inside the tank. The sand traps dirt, debris, and contaminants as water passes through. Clean water returns to the pool through the return line. When the sand becomes dirty, the multiport valve allows backwashing to reverse water flow, flushing trapped debris to waste and cleaning the sand bed for continued use.
Side mount filters offer significant advantages for installations with limited overhead space. Because the valve mounts on the side rather than top, these filters can fit in low-clearance equipment areas where top mount filters cannot. The side configuration also provides easier valve access in tight spaces. For equipment rooms with height restrictions, side mount filters are the best choice.
Side Mount Sand Filters are available in various tank sizes to match different pool volumes and flow rates. Standard residential sizes range from 16 inches to 30 inches in diameter. Larger commercial sizes are also available. Tank construction includes corrosion-resistant materials such as reinforced polyester or fiberglass with UV inhibitors for outdoor durability.
Installation requires positioning the filter on a level concrete pad or stable base. Plumbing connects pump discharge to filter inlet and filter outlet to pool return. The multiport valve connects to backwash discharge line. Regular maintenance includes checking pressure gauge and backwashing when pressure rises 8 to 10 psi above clean operating level. Periodic sand replacement every 5 to 7 years maintains filtration efficiency. GS Pool offers the top rated side mount filters with complete installation guidance.
